The British start-up develops leading AI models for autonomous driving.

Alongside its headquarters in London and other corporate locations in Vancouver and Silicon Valley, in 2025 Wayve will open a test and development center in Leonberg near Stuttgart with the help of BW_i. Nicola Pinder, representative of the BW-UK Office in UK, advised the start-up right from the start. She also established the link to Baden-Württemberg International's investor service, which provided support in areas such as the networking of relevant stakeholders and approval issues.

A new fleet of autonomous vehicles will be tested and further advanced at the German site in a varied traffic environment and under winter road conditions. CEO and co-founder Alex Kendall emphasizes how valuable it is to invest in one of the world's most important automotive markets: “With its rich automotive heritage and deep engineering expertise, Germany is a perfect place to accelerate the development and deployment of AI-powered driving technology. I look forward to partnering with Germany’s world-leading manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers to bring safe, scalable, and production-ready AI software to vehicles worldwide.”

Wayve was founded in 2017. The start-up's long-term goal is to revolutionize safety, efficiency and scalability in the field of automated driving. Thanks to the company's innovative AV2.0 technology, this goal is increasingly taking shape. It learns on the basis of a wide range of driving data, adapts efficiently to new environments and can be integrated into vehicles mapless and hardware-agnostic.

Wayve has been validating and improving its AI technology through test drives in the UK since 2018 and in the USA since 2024. This makes Wayve the first company to deploy autonomous vehicles with end-to-end deep learning on public roads. No wonder Wayve is now one of the leading developers of Embodied AI technology for automated driving.

A very warm welcome to THE LÄND! We are delighted that such an innovative company like Wayve is complementing our automotive industry and that we can work together on a new era of mobility.

For more information, please find the Wayve press release here.

The State government very much welcomes the planned settlement of Wayve in Baden-Württemberg. Innovations in the areas of vehicle automation and digitalization are a key driver of the current structural change in the automotive industry and a basic requirement for maintaining the technological competitiveness of the German automotive industry. Baden-Württemberg laid the foundations early on to specifically promote the future technology AI. We cover a diverse spectrum from basic research to application-oriented, business-related research. As a leading developer of embodied AI technology, Wayve thus meets a network of strong partners and users in Baden-Württemberg.
