The start-up developed an AI platform to reduce the energy consumption of buildings.

Shailendra Tomar, co-founder and CEO of Preflet relocated the young company from Portugal to Baden-Württemberg in the year 2023 with the help of Baden-Württemberg International (BW_i). The start-up settled there at Tübingen-Reutlingen Technology Park, incubating at ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg - a start-up accelerator which offers a financial grant, discounted offices, and technical support. In May 2024, the young company also received a funding commitment of up to 200,000 euros from Start-up BW Pre-Seed, a funding program of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism as well as L-Bank. Preflet's big mission: Using AI to fight against climate change.

Preflet developed an AI-powered platform which analyzes the energy consumption of buildings and reduces it by 15 per cent. The system identifies reasons for energy waste and presents opportunities to decrease power consumption. Therefore, building managers can not only reduce their carbon footprint but also their costs.

BW_i supported the three-member team with its company relocation through offering information about finances and connecting Preflet with accountants as well as attorneys. Beyond that, the state agency made a list with companies that are active in Baden-Württemberg and suitable for cooperations. Tomar appreciates BW_i's support a lot: “BW_i made our soft landing softer, so our company is operating now successfully here. Every time I asked for help, I always got a response.”

In our video, the CEO explains why Baden-Württemberg is the perfect economic location for reaching Preflets climate protection vision.
